AT AUCTION TODAY
VINTAGE HARMONY PATRICIAN H1407 ARCHTOP ACOUSTIC GUITAR
This is a vintage six string, 19 fret acoustic guitar. It was made by Harmony and is their Patrician H1407 Archtop Guitar. The inside is stamped with “1462H1407” and “F44”. This H1407 was made around the 1940’s era. The top front of the neck is stamped with Harmony, Patrician. The Patrician was one of the “glamour” guitars in the Harmony line. They were well built and have a very pleasing tone. Better workmanship, as well as better materials went into the making of each Patrician guitar. All of the woods used to manufacture this guitar are solid woods and it has a solid spruce pressed top (not carved) and a solid mahogany body. With this style guitar, to optimize the sounds, it is suggested that for optimization of the low and high end that you use a good bright phosphor bronze string. For better volume, you should use a heavy gauge sting; the heavier the sting, the better tone the string will have. For lead guitar, it is suggested you use 11-52 gauge strings, and for rhythm use 12-56 gauge strings. There is only one string on this guitar. The string adjusters are pretty discolored, but appear to still be in decent and usable condition. The knobs are black and show some wear, but do not appear to have any chips or cracks. The bottom string holder appears to be the original solid wood, but I do not know what the wood type is for this piece. The neck appears to be straight and other than some wear and scratching and one of the circle pieces missing, appears to be in good condition. The outer edges of the guitar are done in a lovely dark, almost marbleized color. The pick guard appears to be original and has the H still attached; however, you can see where the 1407 piece is missing. The guard’s metal appears discolored, but still appears to be holding strong and the metal and the pick guard both appear to be in good condition. The body of the guitar shows wear, scratching and some very small chipping. The back of the guitar has a large scratching/wear spot in the center and it has what appears to be a crack that goes down the center (see picture); however, it appears to be thin and appears to be reinforced on the inside. This guitar shows its usage; however, it still appears to be in good and playable condition. A little TLC and some new strings and this would appear to be a fabulous guitar! I do not know much about this type of item, so please look very closely at all of the pictures that have been taken to see what the item looks like, what damages it may have and what may be missing. It has been pictured from every possible angle to give you a view of all sections of the item. Please feel free to use the enlargement and zoom features to be sure you get a good overall view of this item. Please Note: This item is sold "AS IS". Please also note that we loosen the guitar strings prior to shipping due to climate changes. We package all of our guitars in original guitar boxes to help ensure a good fit and to help keep them as safe as possible during shipment. This would be a great item for anyone who loves to refurbish and play acoustic guitars. This would also be a superb item to add to any vintage Harmony, acoustic guitar or to add to any vintage musical instrument collection. We do our best to accurately describe the items that we post; however, we are not experts by any means. Please check out all of our pictures and email us with any questions you may have. We will do our best to answer them accurately. PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU ARE USING MOZILLA FIREFOX AS YOUR BROWSER, YOU WILL "NOT" GET THE FULL DESCRIPTION; YOU WILL ONLY GET THE ENTIRE LISTING IF YOU USE INTERNET EXPLORER!

INTERNATIONAL BUYERS, PLEASE NOTE: Import duties, taxes and charges are NOT included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility! Please check with your Country's Customs Office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding. These charges are normally charged by the delivering Freight (shipping) Company when the item is delivered to or picked up by you. Please do not confuse these charges with additional shipping charges. We DO NOT mark merchandise below value or mark items as "gift". U.S. and International Government regulations prohibit such behavior!
ABOUT US AND WHAT WE DO
All proceeds from this auction benefit the Idaho Youth Ranch and their statewide programs for children and families: foster care, adoptions, family counseling, residential treatment homes, shelter homes, independent living and substance abuse treatment. The Idaho Youth Ranch operates 5 residential treatment homes throughout the state of Idaho. The Idaho Youth Ranch residential care facilities can accommodate up to 66 children at a time. On any given day, we help 500 children and families in our care. Last year we served 1,676 children and families.
Most of the children in our care are struggling with one or more of these issues:
Abuse or neglect by a family member or other individual
Substance abuse (youth and/or parents)
Mental health issues (i.e., depression)
We focus on children’s strengths. We provide education and life skills to help children and families cope with mental illness and destructive behaviors such as addictions, low self esteem, abuse, and neglect. We provide alternatives to incarceration or hospitalization. The Idaho Youth Ranch is different from other social service agencies because we continue to support children and families after they leave our care. We refer to this as “finishing the job” through ongoing family counseling, referrals to critical community services, job placement and college scholarships. Last year 67 percent of Idaho Youth Ranch graduates stayed out of trouble with the law one year after discharge.
We thank you for supporting the children of Idaho!
